The Montgomery Suite honors our ancestors who originally settled in Rockbridge County. The Montgomery Room offers a Henkle Harris king size pencil bed. A large original Palladian window frames the king bed. The adjoining Whetstone Room features one queen and one twin bed, both handmade in Virginia. This two-bedroom suite sleeps five and features a spacious tiled bathroom with a bathtub, large pedestal sink and a large original antique window. This suite is located on the second floor.
The McElwee Room honors the Rev. William M. McElwee, who built what we now see as the main house in 1859. This large bedroom is furnished with a handmade Henkle Harris king size bed and features a beautiful fireplace, built in bookshelves and a walk-in closet. The spacious bathroom includes a walk-in shower complete with two shower heads and a rain shower. The copper vanity, handmade ceramic sink and separate soaking tub room with a crystal chandelier add to the character and elegance of this room. Located on the first floor, the McElwee Room is Stonegate’s most private suite.
The Campbell Suite is named after the original owner, James Campbell, who built the house in 1832. This two-bedroom suite includes a large bedroom featuring a king size custom handmade Robert Bergelin king size bed and the McGee Room featuring a handmade Henkle Harris queen size bed. A large original Palladian window frames the king bed. These two rooms are connected by a spacious bathroom including a walk-in shower, large pedestal sink and handmade built-in cabinets. Located on the second floor, the Campbell Suite sleeps four comfortably and is perfect for a family or traveling friends.
